Student Voice
Our Student Voice Group provides a platform to allow our students to express their opinions, concerns, and ideas in a formal way. Our Student Voice Group is made up of elected representatives from all six year groups and a new committee is elected each year. Each tutor group is represented by their Prefect and Deputy Prefect. The Student Voice meetings are held regularly throughout the school year, and they are led by our 12 Senior Prefects.
The Student Voice Group is an important vehicle of communication between students and staff, but it is more than just a discussion form – it actively contributes to meaningful change within the school. The Senior Prefects meet with the Senior Management Team after each meeting to communicate the views and concerns of the student body. These views are considered by management and staff when developing school policies or making changes to the learning and teaching environment in the school.
In the past, the group have considered adjustments to the school uniform policy and the redevelopment of the Anti-Bullying Charter, along with discussions on the challenges and opportunities arising from the move to one-hour classes. Next year, our Student Voice Group will be heavily involved in the development and implementation of the Bí Cineálta policy.
Students who take participate on the Student Voice Group gain a wealth of valuable skills. They learn to communicate clearly and confidently, listen with empathy, work collaboratively and think critically. Leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving are all part of their experience — qualities that support their academic journey and future life beyond school.
